+ Vaccum Molding Process - why is it referenced as 'sandwich construction'?
a perforated foam-like board is placed between the two layers of fibreglass and during the vaccum molding process, the resin is 'sucked' through the perforations of the board, bonding the two layers providing very high strength skin particularly when constructing the fuselage and aerofoils.
+ Why do all Terrier Aircraft have a carbon-fiber Propeller as opposed to a timber Propeller?
timber propellers (as found in other Aircraft makes) are subject to fatique and distortion when entering precipitation during flight; in other words "hope for the best" when flying into rain. All Foxcon Aviation Aircraft are fitted with carbon composite propellers which are one of the strongest and toughest blades available on today's markets.
+ Why we keep weight of our Aircraft low? (throughout its manufacturing process)
For one - its performance (speed), for two - its more available payload. With a MTOW of only 600kg (LSA category requirement), every gram saved throughout the production process (by incorporating more high-tech leight-weight materials), the pilot will have more payload available.
+ Why we use translucent Gel-coat as opposed to white found with other manufacturers?
white Gel-coat hides any abnormalities in the composite layups between its layers such as an air-bubble which can burst even after its final top-coat polyurethane finish and would prove to be a big job to fix (new top-coat). By using a translucent Gel-coat you have a more transparent overview and be able to rectify any imperfections before the final paint job takes place.
+ What are the requirements under the LSA Aircraft category?
to best describe this, click here or click LSA Category on the left Menu
+ Can a LSA Aircraft be registered as VH-xxx?
yes it can, it would be registered as 'Experimental' under the GA (General Aviation) category governed by CASA regulations.
+ What are the Pilot's requirements when Aircraft registered under LSA?
to have a current AUF-RAA ultralight Pilots Licence (or endorsed PPL), pay a yearly Aircraft registration fee (once off fee if VH registered) and no 'Medical' required (biennial if VH registered),
